We shall look at the value of the Google Analytics tool and how to use it as

  • A complete web analytics solution
  • An introduction to web analytics and what third party solutions can offer

The focus of this workshop will be to look at exactly what information is available from a website and  more importantly how to use this as the most valuable marketing tool you will ever have. 

We shall see how Google Analytics presents information and how to select from the vast amount of data available.  We shall concentrate on identifying the information that will take the guesswork out of real marketing decisions.

What will be covered

  • Setting up your account, installing the tracking script and an overview of the profile options
  • An overview of the six reports                            
    • Executive
    • Marketer
    • Webmaster
    • Marketing Optimization
    • Content Optimization
    • E-commerce Analysis

We shall look at each report in overview but will focus on information that is relevant to the marketing function, in particular information that will help with

  • Increasing relevant traffic to the site
  • Search engine optimisation
  • The value of free vs sponsored listings
  • The contribution made by different referring sites
  • Site usability
  • Goals and funnels
  • The pro’s and con’s of Google Analytics, including when to stay with this free tool and when to invest in a third party solution.

At the end of the session, you will have an overall understanding of the value of web analytics and the contribution they can, and should be making to online marketing.  You will also be able to set up and use Google Analytics and be in a position to make an informed decision as to whether this is the right web analytics solution for your particular site.
